1) October 2025: The Ministry of Mines has launched the Incentive Scheme for Critical Mineral Recycling with JNARDDC as the Project Management Agency (PMA). Interested stakeholders may apply under the "Incentive Scheme" tab.   |   2) Oct 03: The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹1,500 crore incentive scheme aimed at promoting the recycling of critical minerals. Under this scheme, the Ministry of Mines has issued a scheme notification in the Gazette of India on 08.09.2025.

Scheme Overview

The Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Critical Minerals Recycling, launched under the National Critical Minerals Mission (NCMM), aims to strengthen India’s critical mineral security by promoting recycling from secondary sources such as spent lithium-ion batteries, e-waste, and other eligible waste streams.

The Scheme supports the creation of domestic recycling and extraction capacity for critical minerals through a combination of capital (Capex) and operational (Opex) incentives, encouraging adoption of advanced, environmentally compliant recycling technologies.

By enabling circular-economy practices, the Scheme seeks to reduce import dependence, ensure reliable supply of critical minerals for clean energy and strategic sectors, and foster a robust recycling ecosystem involving both established recyclers and emerging enterprises.
